SPLODER!

 

Sploder is a webpage which allows anyone create a game without programming. There are 5 types of game creators: 


  1. Arcade creator
  2. Platformer creator 
  3. Physics creator
  4. Classic creator
  5. 3d Adventure creator


I love the arcade creator and made one. I could choose the grounds, backgrounds, scenery, treasures, enemies and more to design it as I wanted. Maybe I liked this because I used to play Mario when I was a kid and this creator reminds me my favorite game. The idea of constructing our own game with the features that we want is just amazing! Below is the link to my first game and a picture of it. I have to admit that I did not like the other creators as much as the arcade one but they are a good way to reach kids in complex tasks by playing as the physics creator. 


As an educator who has taught children, teenagers and adults; I can firmly say that games are appealing for everyone and if we use them properly, students can learn in a fun way.

Mr. Haskell taught us three kinds of educational games: 1. Serious games 2. Gamification 3. Commercial games All of them make the class enjoyable and interesting, all of them are powerful tools that teachers should use wisely to obtain great results. What could be better than learning by having fun! Besides we, as students, not only read about games, we also played a variety of them in the 3D gamelab as missions  without deadlines , we created our own games in Sploder, we received awards for our performance and more. I hope to see him again because I think he is a cool professor!

Hoy me dí cuenta que mi visión de las herramientas Web era limitada comparada con todo lo que aprendimos. Fue un día largo, con mucha información recibida que en un momento pensé "Oh Dios ¡reprobaré!" pero al final sentí que todo esto es un gran desafío que debo cumplir. Las herramientas Web 2.0 son aliados en la actualidad que aportan recursos valiosos para la creación de los tan necesarios PLE (Personal Learning Environment).  Un PLE es un espacio virtual donde el aprendiz coloca videos, enlaces, infografías, nubes de palabras, mapas conceptuales, comics, documentos, todo lo que considere valioso para su aprendizaje de esta manera el o ella gestiona su proceso educativo y se hace un ser autónomo que produce y comparte conocimiento más allá de solo consumirlo.
